Stephen P. Kalish is the Director, Strategic Planning, Management, and Execution, for Xylem Inc. As a member of Xylem’s executive team, Steve is responsible for researching, recommending, and articulating long range strategy to achieve the organization’s business goals.  This includes analysis of addressable markets, competition, industry trends, and company competitive advantages using a rigorous, disciplined strategic planning process.  Steve also drives strategic execution through the Xylem Management System.

Xylem (XYL) is a leading global water technology company committed to developing innovative technology solutions to the world’s water challenges. The Company’s products and services move, treat, analyze, monitor and return water to the environment in public utility, industrial, residential and commercial building services, and agricultural settings. With its October 2016 acquisition of Sensus, Xylem added smart metering, network technologies and advanced data analytics for water, gas and electric utilities to its portfolio of solutions. Steve joined ITT Defense in 1987 as a Program Manager responsible for development and production of 21 navigation payloads for the Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite program.  In 2004, Steve joined ITT Fluid Technology to lead the deployment of best practice product development processes and the organization’s Technology Council. In 2006, Steve assumed responsibility for strategic planning where he led implementation of a market-based strategic planning approach.  Prior to his current role, Steve held various executive roles including Director of ITT’s Integrated Management System, Transition Leader for the spinoff from ITT, and Director of Strategy for Xylem.  Steve is also a member of Xylem’s Watermark Executive Committee (Xylem’s signature philanthropic program).

One of Steve’s passions is bringing water education to children.  He introduced and has led World Water Monitoring Challenge events for 100 elementary school children in his school district every year since 2009.  Steve is also a member of his local Board of Education; he sponsors the annual Dwight D. Eisenhower Leadership Award at five high schools in northern New Jersey; and he serves on the Board of the West Point Society of the Mid-Hudson Region.
Steve graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1982 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.  He served 5 years on active duty in the U.S. Army and 14 years in the Army Reserves as a Military Intelligence Officer.  Steve and his wife, Grace and their four children live in Northern New Jersey.
