EarthEcho International and our global community of youth leaders applaud President Biden’s recent Executive Order committing to the goal of protecting 30% of America’s lands and waters by 2030. Part of a sweeping set of actions to address the growing impacts of the climate crisis, this ambitious and necessary conservation goal is a critical step to protect and restore nature for generations to come.

Our team at EarthEcho is committed to supporting the new administration’s goal to place 30% of the ocean in marine protected areas and to recognize the important role the ocean plays as a solution to the climate crisis. Through these bold actions, we have an opportunity to reduce extinctions and combat global temperature rise, create jobs in conservation, ecotourism, and sustainable fishing, and work toward an inclusive and equitable vision for nature conservation with environmental justice as a guiding principle.

As our EarthEcho youth leaders continue to amplify their voices in support of a global 30x30 goal through their OceanEcho 30x30 initiative, we look forward to redoubling our efforts to ensure this Executive Order serves as a catalyst for further action around the world.
