Outside of school she enjoys reading, spending time with friends, and playing the piano. Katelyn is also a NAUI certified scuba diver.

Along with school activities she spends a lot of time volunteering for Love A Sea Turtle (LAST) as a student advisory board member. For the past six years she has gained thousands of volunteer hours by working with LAST in her community. She has spent every summer as a camp counselor at the Upstream Downstream Connection summer camp where volunteers teach thousands of underprivileged youth about the environment. Katelyn enjoys working with the kids each summer and making a difference in their lives. She has a passion in teaching youth about the environment and going out and taking action in her community. Katelyn believes that it is rewarding to know that she has made a difference in her community and the lives of the youth.
