Service Learning Stage 3: Action
Action occurs as direct, indirect, advocacy or research. Direct service involves face-to-face interactions with people, animals or environment. With indirect service, you are not seen though you are meeting a need. Advocacy raises awareness of an issue and encourages action to change a situation. With service as research, students gather and report on information to help a community. Service engages youth voice, choice, and creativity to transform an idea into action that meets a real need.
