Ella Fedenko
Ella was born and raised in the beautiful island of Guam, part of the Marianas islands. She has been in the water for most of her life with a background in competitive and ocean water swims. She also teaches youth how to swim and is the vice president of the University of Guam Biology club. In her senior year of college, she hopes to leave a lasting impact on the next class and give back to the community. She’s currently organizing a bus stop painting project for the club, and looks forward to what the future holds.
Campaign Impact
Ella centered her campaign on building community awareness and connection to regional marine protected areas and the Mariana Trench Marine National Monument with a focus on using art to connect the local community and inspire youth to engage in ocean protection and advocacy. Through her campaign work, she engaged local high school students to create a community bus stop mural with art highlighting local endemic species to the area, and the Mariana Trench.
“The ocean protection ambassador program is a great way to create awareness for ocean advocacy and get youth engaged in policy making and have a voice in the professional setting.”
