Francesca Fearnley
With the aim of having a positive and meaningful impact in all she does, Chess is an environmentalist, concerned global citizen and accomplished activist in her local community. Her care for our planet and its people has led her to take on numerous roles including as a Landscape Architect, sea turtle conservationist, host of The Common Ground Podcast (a top 60 Apple Podcast focusing on social and environmental issues) and co-founder of multiple environmental projects in her local area.
Most recently, she co-founded and convened her local Plastic Action and Climate Action Networks, a role she’s carried out for over four years. Notable achievements included co-leading the town to Plastic Free Community status, awarded by charity Surfers Against Sewage to groups committed to reducing single use plastic usage.
As a result of her activism, Chess was honoured to become an Artic Angel Ambassador for Global Choices at the start of 2020, a youth-led, international and intergenerational network committed to protecting the global commons.
