Expedition Fellow: Plasticseas
Katie Meyer is a Primary School Teacher in Melbourne, where she teaches the sixth grade at Port Melbourne Primary School. Katie moved to Australia in 2012 for an opportunity to teach abroad and travel. She has taught special education, physical education, prep and year 5/6. Katie is originally from Ontario, Canada where she was born and raised with her parents and older sister. She began traveling in her teenage years and hasn't stopped since. Over the years, she has developed a passion for diversity, culture, nature and the environment.
Katie loves to travel, volunteer, cook, go for motorcycle rides and have spontaneous adventures with her husband and friends. She particularly loves going camping and hiking whenever possible.
Katie is thrilled to be a part of the Earth Echo Expedition, to participate actively to see the change in the way that plastics are produced, managed and disposed of and how to take this information to inform her students and the community in Port Phillip.
