Snigtha Mohanraj

Snigtha Mohanraj is a rising high school senior from the New Haven area in CT. New Haven is an area significantly impacted by various environmental issues, and many marginalized groups are disproportionately impacted. This led to Snigtha’s strong passion for environmental action, especially through combining science perspectives regarding environmental issues with civic involvement. Snigtha is an intern at the Climate Health Education Project, in which she works with teachers and administrators to bring climate education to the New Haven public school system. She is also a volunteer with the New Haven Climate Movement, in which she helps organize rallies and public action events in her community. Snigtha has served as an EarthEcho Water Challenge Ambassador for several years and is very interested in water quality issues. In addition to her civic involvement, Snigtha conducts independent research developing water filtration systems to remove harmful contaminants. Her research has been recognized at international levels, and she has recently received a patent for one of her designs. Snigtha is very excited to further her environmental work!
