Tariq Kupfeberg
Tariq Kupferberg is a 17-year-old Junior at the Bronx High School of Science in New York City. Growing up on the Hudson River, he is deeply interested in mitigating the damage to our fragile water ecosystem caused by pollution.
Currently, he is an Intern at the United Nations as a YOUNGO Delegate and a member of the Water and Climate Work Group, which advocates for the implementation of the "Clean Water and Sanitation For All" bill. Additionally, Tariq is a volunteer at the Billion Oyster Project where he builds oyster cages and collects data on Oyster populations in the New York harbor in order to assist local scientists. He is involved in the Climate Initiative which organizes rallies, cooperates with local teachers to emphasize climate awareness within our curriculums, and organizes clean-up events for our waters. Outside of activism, Tariq is a researcher at Cornell University for the past 3 summers - where he works with a team focused on developing new methods of immobilizing contaminants in our waters.
In his free time, he is a member of his school's Public Forum Debate team, and enjoys Rowing and cooking.
