Environmental Justice is the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies.

Aquaculture production is often thought of from the perspective of the environment and the repercussions to the economy and environment, if managed poorly. However, the seafood industry is also very much linked to a range of social issues from human rights to worker rights and sustainability. We can’t care about the ocean and its resources without caring for people, from small fishers to coastal communities. Together, let’s unpack how seafood gets to market and the people at the center of the industry.

If we care about the Earth and its resources, we must care and understand how food arrives on our plates, as well as who makes it possible for us to be nourished, from farmworkers, meatpackers, and the sustainable methods for growing our food. There’s a dark side we can’t dismiss – it’s vital to know how some agriculture methods and polluters are jeopardizing the health and endangering the lives of communities, as well as our air and water, for industrial scale agricultural production of meat, chicken, dairy, and commodities including soy grown to feed livestock. This module is intended to augment "What’s on Your Fork," ensuring an environmental justice perspective is seen, heard, and felt in connection to food justice.

El propósito de este módulo es el de mejorar "Qué Hay en Tu Tenedor (What’s on Your Fork)," garantizando que una perspectiva de justicia ambiental sea vista, escuchada y sentida en relación con la justicia alimentaria.
