Kai Tran is a 22 year old graduate student at Duke University earning a Master of Environmental Management. He earned his B.S. in Environmental Management & Protection at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, along with two minors in Political Science and Law & Society. Kai has been deeply passionate about our natural environment and oceans through much of his life, and has been fortunate enough to be born and raised on the west coast of the US.

Kai's passion for the environment has presented itself through Kai's involvement in a variety of environmental activist groups and causes within the Central California coast such as some local political campaigns, the San Luis Obispo Sunrise Movement, Northern Chumash Tribal Council, and on-campus environmental groups/clubs at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

Kai has previously served as a OceanEcho 30x30 fellowship to develop a campaign plan and aid the Northern Chumash Tribal Council to progress momentum and support for the proposed Chumash Heritage National Marine Sanctuary.
