Sahasra Yellepeddi
Sahasra Yellepeddi is a climate activist and innovator from Texas, passionate about harnessing technology and science to develop solutions for a sustainable future. Sahasra's years growing up in a coastal fishing town fostered her deep love for the oceans and responsibility for their protection. Her passion for eco-fashion has inspired her efforts to create cultural change towards intentional anti-consumerism through education. As US Coordinator of Climate Science Ltd., she has empowered youth internationally with accessible, science-backed resources and curriculum. Sahasra's identity and ancestral roots in the villages of rural South India have motivated her intersectional activism, as she believes there is no climate justice without social justice. She understands that from Indigenous peoples to small-scale farmers and people of color, the impacts of climate change are felt most acutely by those with the fewest resources and the least political power. Therefore, Sahasra is a firm believer in systemic change through policy. Through her leadership within the Red Cross's International Humanitarian Law action campaigns, she worked to educate youth on the ecological effects of war. Sahasra has been involved in EarthEcho's programs from an early age and is excited to amplify underrepresented perspectives to drive inclusive, meaningful change within ocean conservation.
